Free Use Permit for Firewood (Personal Use Only)
 

Requirements

 
1. You must not own or occupy land where there is sufficient timber that is reasonably accessible for the firewood.

2.

The firewood is for personal use only and not for sale to others.

3.

The permit is for the Squamish Forest District.

4.

The term of the permit is 60 days.

5.

Only downed trees may be removed - no standing trees (alive or dead) may be cut.

6.

The permit is limited to FOUR cords (approximately 10 regular pickup loads.)

7.

Cutting is confined to the area outlined on the permit.

Procedures for obtaining a Licence to Cut

Pursuant to Section 47.4 of the Forest Act, the district manager may issue a licence to cut to a person who purchases or occupies land and does not otherwise have the right to harvest Crown timber from the land.

  1. Obtain or print a copy of the application for a licence to cut form (FS 321). A copy of this form is available here.
  2. The following information must be completed on your application form.
    1. Please ensure the area is within the Squamish Forest District. See district map here.
    2. The date of application.
    3. A description of the location of the proposed licence to cut.
    4. Under what type of tenure is the land occupied.
    5. The tenure number (file number and/or lease number).
    6. Estimated volume in cubic metres.
    7. Indicate whether or not the area has been surveyed.

  3. A valid copy of your Occupational Tenure with map must be included with your application.
  4. An appropriate map (i.e. forest cover map) at a scale of 1:20 000 showing the cutting area must be included with your application. A forest cover map may be obtained at www.cloverpoint.com.
  5. A completed copy of your licence to cut application package should be sent to:

    The district manager will determine the disposition of the timber.

In compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the personal information collected in this permit will not be used for any purpose other than enforcing the legislation and regulations under which it is collected.
