Invitation to Tender

Lillooet West Forest Service Road - 36km Road Realignment

Closing Date and Time: September 21, 2009 15:00hrs

36 km Road Realignment Site Meeting: 2009-09-15

Issues discussed:

·    Review of staking.

·    Construction expectations (running width 8 m unless otherwise specified, grubbed/keyed in/compacted fill slope is expected, ½ meter ditch).

·    “Knock-outs” for hydro poles are to be grubbed out as per the design drawings.

·    Traffic – Ministry of Forests and Range will look into complete closures; at this point, assume status quo with flagging and minor road delays (less than half an hour).   It is the successful contractor’s responsibility to consult with and communicate an acceptable closure plan to the local communities and road users.

·    30 cm of good “gradeable” material is expected to be spread over the entire length of road realignment.

·    Capping material can be developed from the Billygoat pit, from the southern end of the current opening in the forest service road right-of-way.

Questions and Answers:

Q   What to do with Debris?

A    Debris from this road realignment and pit development is to be piled for burning at a later date at the end of the 0+550 spur or at the Billygoat pit.  These piles cannot be located underneath the power line and must be a minimum of five meters from  adjacent timber.

Q   What slope markers are to be used at station 0+460?

At station 0+460, upper blue line indicates the anticipated top of cut/bank (not the lower blue line).

Q   Who will be doing the centreline staking and when will it be done?

A    Centreline of road layout will be staked by Hedberg and Associates prior to construction.
