Content Checklist For

Roads

Application letter to District Manager outlining the following:

·         general description of your proposal;

·         current use of area;

·         intended use of area;

·         length of time road will be required;  and,

·         full legal name, address and phone number of applicant (or company)

Road Layout and Design (RL&D) in accordance with Section 60 of the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act and as described in the Forest Road Regulation for any road you propose to construct or modify, that require District Manager approval. (for RL&D requirements, see Part 2 of  the Forest Road Regulation)  Most SUP road locations are field reviewed by MOF staff.  To minimize delays and facilitate this review, it is suggested that you forward a copy of those RL&Ds that do not require District Manager approval, as well.

A 1:5000 scale operational map (include in RL&D map when you are preparing one for proposed construction or modification) indicating:

·         proposed road tied to an identifiable point (legal corner if available) of commencement;

·         legal boundaries of property you are accessing;

·         road that you propose to join;

·         stream crossings, culverts and other resource features;  and,

·         any existing improvements (buildings, transmission lines etc.)

Junction permit, if applicable, to Municipal, Provincial or Forest Service Roads. For application details/requirements, contact your local:

·         Municipal office for connection to Municipal Roads;

·         Ministry of Transportation & Highways office for connection to Provincial Roads;  and,

·         Ministry of Forests office for connection to Forest Service Roads.

A completed application for a Licence to Cut if any Crown timber is required to be cut or removed in your proposal.  Major licensees can apply for cutting permit authority instead of a Licence to Cut for areas within their tenure.

Any documentation and responses relating to your preliminary consultation with local user groups, First Nations or other agencies, if applicable.
