Content Checklist For

Gravel & Rock Pits

Application letter to District Manager outlining the following:

·         general description of your proposal;

·         current use of area;

·         intended use of area;

·         description for  which forest road the materials are required;

·         proposed slope stability measures (including professional assessment if stability questionable);

·         proposed water control and sediment reduction measures;

·         description of timber which requires removal;

·         length of time gravel or rock pit is required;  and,

·         full legal name, address and phone number of applicant (or company).

A 1:5000 scale operational plan map indicating:

·         proposed pit boundary location tied to an identifiable point (legal corner if available) of commencement;

·         road that accesses pit area;

·         streams and other resource features;  and,

·         any existing improvements (buildings, transmission lines etc.)

Junction permit, if applicable, to Municipal, Provincial or Forest Service Roads. For application details/requirements, contact your local:

·         Municipal office for connection to Municipal Roads;

·         Ministry of Transportation & Highways office for connection to Provincial Roads;  and,

·         Ministry of Forests office for connection to Forest Service Roads.

A completed application for a Licence to Cut if any Crown timber is required to be cut or removed in your proposal.  Major licensees can apply for cutting permit authority instead of a Licence to Cut for areas within their tenure.

A completed application for a Road Use Permit if a Forest Service Road is required to transport material excavated from your proposed pit.

Any documentation and responses relating to your preliminary consultation with local user groups, First Nations or other agencies, if applicable.
