Cartwright Lake Recreation Site - # 29

Access

Car accessible, about 24 kilometres west of Brisco (Highway 95).  Drive west on Bugaboo Forest Service Road and turn south at km 1.5 onto Leadqueen Forest Service Road for 6 kilometres.

Alternate Route:  55 kilometres north of Invermere via Westside and Francis / Leadqueen roads.  Turn west at km 41.5 junction.  Use caution due to logging truck traffic.

Characteristics and Description

Most popular and largest of the 'Cartwright Lakes'.  Over one kilometre in length with a shoreline of mature pine and fir.  Deep and cold but some swimming is possible.  Two main campsites - Cartwright West, Cartwright North are both busy throughout the summer.

Fishing

Moderately good to good.  Ice fishing is popular.  Rainbow trout - stocked semi-annually.
