Located in a pristine setting, the cabin sits on a rock bluff on a South
facing slope overlooking the Forster Creek alpine meadow. The cabin is located
in a mature forest. One of the trees, an Engelmann Spruce, is over 1 metre in
diameter and towers above the cabin. The views from the cabin are spectacular:
the upper North Star and Catamount glaciers can be seen, as well as the natural
ramp leading to the back end of Forster Creek.
The cabin was built by the Columbia Valley Hut Society to commemorate the
life of Dave White a well known BC Forest Service forester and outdoorsman.
The Dave White cabin is designated for non-motorized winter use only with
a capacity for five people (four comfortably).
This cabin offers a comfortable base for ski touring. People with advanced
backcountry skills will find the terrain above the cabin complex, steep and
potentially dangerous. People without the appropriate skills are strongly
advised to find terrain suitable to their experience.
