The Rocky Mountain Forest District is committed to building positive relationships with First Nations in BC, through trust, mutual respect, recognition and understanding

There are two First Nation Councils and four First Nation Band communities, who's aboriginal interests and traditional territories are located within the Rocky Mountain Forest District

First Nations communities include the Ktunaxa Nation Council, Akisq'nuk First Nation Indian Band, St. Mary's Indian Band, Tobacco Plains Indian Band, Shuswap Nation Tribal Council and Shuswap Indian Band.

First Nations people and communities represent a unique cultural heritage and distinct in language and traditions.

Rocky Mountain Forest District

The Rocky Mountain Forest District has provided ongoing support to the Southern Interior Forest Region in developing and administrating forestry agreements with First Nations.
