Cranbrook's Recreation Sites 

Upper Elk River - # 1

A small, partially treed site on the Elk River.  Views of meadows and avalanche chutes.

Tobermory Creek - # 2 

A small, partially treed site on Tobermory Creek.  Forest Service cabin available for public use at the site.

Riverside - # 3 

A small, partially treed site on the Elk River.

Weary Creek - # 4 

A small, roadside site on the Elk River.

Aldridge Creek - # 5

A small, heavily treed site on the Elk River.

Forsyth Creek - # 6

Staging area for Connor Lakes Trail and the Height-of-the-Rockies Wilderness area.  The site is located at the junction of Forsyth and Quarrie Creeks.  Parking area and a corral are provided.  Limited camping near the parking area and along the creek by the corral. 

Blue Lake - # 7

A small, heavily treed site on Blue Lake in the Elk Valley. Not suitable for motor boats.

Krivensky Farm - # 8 

A large, open site in a field near the Elk River. The site is located on an old homestead.

Alexander Creek - # 9

A small, partially treed site on Alexander Creek.

Pollock Creek - # 10

A small, partially treed site along the Flathead River.

Upper Harvey Creek - # 11 

A small, partially treed site along the Flathead River.

Lower Harvey Creek - #12 

A small, partially open site along the Flathead Road

Butts - # 13

An open site on the Flathead Border Road.  A short hike to the west leads to Beryl and Marl lakes. Forest Service cabin available for public use. 

Howell Creek - # 14

A small, partially treed site on Howell Creek.

Sage Creek - # 15

A small, partially treed site on Sage Creek.

Proctor Lake - # 16

A small, treed site at the north end of Proctor Lake. High clearance or 4WD only.

Frozen Lake - # 17

A small, secluded site on the Canada - U.S.A. border in the Flathead Valley. Suitable for launching car-top boats and canoes.

Ram-Wigwam - # 18

A small, partially treed site on the Wigwam River.

Loon Lake - # 19

A large, partially treed site on the south and west sides of Loon Lake. Busy in the summer. Electric motors only.

Edwards Lake - # 20

A small, partially treed site on the north side of Edwards Lake. Electric motors only.

Gold Bay - # 21

A medium-sized, partially treed site located on a protected bay on Lake Koocanusa.

Gold Creek - # 22

A small, partially treed site north of Newgate. Steep access.

Englishman Creek - # 23

A medium-sized site on Lake Koocanusa in a protected bay with a gravel boat launch.

Gilnockie Creek - # 24

Located in an open meadow. A restored Forest Service cabin available for public use.

Seven Mile Lake - # 25

A small, partially treed site at the headwaters of Caven Creek. Not suitable for motor boats.

Mazur Meadows - # 26

A large, open meadow site on Caven Creek.

Caven-Gold Creek - # 27

A small, heavily treed site at the confluence of Caven and Gold Creeks.

Fish Lake - # 28

A small, secluded and heavily treed site east of Cherry Lake. Mature larch forest around the site.

Cherry Lake - # 29

A small, heavily treed site at the east end of Cherry Lake. Suitable for launching car-top boats and canoes.

St. Louie Camp - # 30

A small, open site along Gold Creek. Historic logging camp location.

Monroe Lake - # 31

A small site beside a small lake.

Palmer Bar Lake - # 32

A small, partially treed site on a historic mill pond. Good fishing.

White Boar Lake - # 33

A small site with an excellent view of a spectacular cirque headwall. 100m hike from the road to the site.

Cranbrook Community Forest - # 34

Interpretive forest adjacent to the City of Cranbrook. Recreation/interpretive trail network with day use facilities. Refer to the Cranbrook Community Forest brochure, available at the Cranbrook office.

Kikomun Creek - # 35

A medium-sized meadow site along Kikomun Creek.

Rock Creek - # 36

A large site in an open meadow along Kikomun Creek.

Suzanne Lake - # 37

A small, heavily treed site on Suzanne Lake. Suitable for launching car-top boats and canoes.

North Star Lake - # 38

A medium-sized, heavily treed site on North Star Lake. Suitable for canoes and car-top boats.

Wapiti Lake - # 39  

A medium-sized, partially treed site on Wapiti Lake; not suitable for motor boats. Popular for ice fishing.

Tie Lake - # 40

A medium, partially treed site along the lakeshore at the south east end of Tie Lake. Popular for water related summer activities.

Sand Lake - # 41

A small, partially treed site on the east end of Sand Lake.

Sulphur Creek - # 42

A small, open site on Sulphur Creek. Cold mineral springs are a short drive to the east.

40 Mile Bull River - # 43

A  medium, scenic site at the confluence of Quinn Creek and the Bull River.

Narboe Creek - # 44

A small, heavily treed site in the Bull River Valley. The Hornaday Pass trail starts here.

Summer Lake - # 45

Three camping areas on Summer Lake; ideal for car-top boats and canoes. Top of the World Park and other hiking opportunities are accessible from this site.

Horseshoe Lake - # 46

A very large, partially treed site surrounding Horseshoe Lake. Heavy use in the summer, including trail bikes and ATV's. No motor boats permitted.

Lakit Lake - # 47

A small, partially treed site on a shallow, man-made lake. Evidence of an old corduroy road on the lake bottom.

Lazy Lake - # 48

A small, open site on a popular lake.

Hartley Lake - # 49

A small, open site which can be accessed from Fernie or the Bull River FSR. The site was built in conjunction with the Fernie Rod and Gun Club.

Mineral Lake - # 50

A small, open day use area; warm water and a rope swing.

Dorr Road - # 51  

A small, open day use area; warm water and a rope swing.
