The Tenures Section is responsible for the issuance of licences
and permits to harvest timber, build roads and occupy land for industrial forestry purposes in a designated area within the Prince George
Forest District.
Roles and responsibilities include issuing Cutting Permits, Road Permits, Forestry Licences to Cut, Occupational Licences to Cut, Woodlot Licences,
Special Use Permits and Free Use Permits.
Note: The Prince George Forest District does not include areas within the City of Prince George.
Please contact the City of Prince George for any enquiries regarding harvesting within city limits.

May 14, 2008 - Timber Cutting Applications within Controlled Recreation Areas (CRA)
Effective September 4, 2007 the CONTROLLED RECREATION ACT REGULATION under
the Resort Timber Administration Act (RTAA) was created that provides authority for the Resort Development Branch (RDB) of Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts (MTSA) to issue
Licences to Cut (LTC) within the boundaries of a CRA, primarily areas around ski resorts.

and guidance for the application, issuance, maintenance and termination of permits in a Provincially consistent manner.

A road permit provides the holder of the agreement the right to occupy the land,
construct the road, the obligation to maintain the road, and may also include the right to harvest timber if the crown owned timber must be harvested in order to construct the road
(Forest Act Part 8).

A Road Use Permit (RUP) provides the holder of the agreement the right to use
a FSR as per the terms and conditions of the agreement (Forest Act Part 8).
Presently RUPs can not be applied for through the ESF.
