C&E is the law enforcement
arm of the Ministry of Forests and Range.
Its main purpose is to make sure that
forestry laws are being followed in
BC public forests, and to take action
where there is alleged non-compliance.
Compliance & Enforcement
staff is responsible for assessing any
risk that is associated with Tenure
issuance and carrying out inspections
and investigations in order to confirm
if forest activities comply with applicable
legislation.
Inspections are carried
out on tenures and activities such as
harvesting, range, roads, silviculture,
revenue, oil and gas, mining, and revenue,
as well as general inspections. Our
staff is also involved in carrying out
audits and road checks, in addition
to determining if forest licensees have
fulfilled the results and strategies
that were approved in their Forest Stewardship
Plans. Other responsibilities include
investigating incidents of alleged non-compliance
reported by staff, stakeholders, the
public, and other agencies. The public
has responsibility to report issues
that may be non-compliant when observed,
to assist C&E staff in identifying possible
contraventions.
If you have any information
about a suspected forestry contravention
or crime, please call the Peace
Forest District office at
250-784-1200, or
Crime Stoppers toll-free
at 1-800-222-8477.
Callers may remain anonymous.
