Road Safety Guidelines

There is a safety initiative in the form of a resource road radio pilot. This pilot is only in effect on the south side of the Peace River within the Peace Forest District. The piloted channels are configured and named differently than conventional two-way radio channels. A map of the pilot assignments and some background information is also available on the Peace Forest District FTP site via the link below. If you have any questions on how these initiatives are being implemented, please contact our local office for an explanation.

Introduction

The Peace Forest District is one of the larger and more challenging of all districts in the province to effectively manage. The district office is located in the city of Dawson Creek, and from there many communities such as Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Hudson’s Hope and Taylor are served. There are many rural communities as well, too numerous to mention, as well as a dozen First Nations with historical ties and interests in this area. The district was created in the 2002 – 2003 restructuring when the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek Forest Districts were merged.
