From the Nimpkish Valley on Vancouver Island in the south to Princess Royal Island in the
north, the North Island - Central Coast
Forest District stretches from the Pacific Ocean
to Tweedsmuir Provincial Park over some of the most rugged and beautiful
wilderness in British Columbia. It is the home of coastal temperate
rainforest, rare wildlife and plant species and contains an abundance of
other natural resources.
The North Island - Central Coast District office is located in Port
McNeill on Northern Vancouver Island. With a field office located in
the Bella Coola Valley community of Hagensborg, the Central Coast can be reached by Highway 20 from Williams Lake. It can
also be accessed by B.C. Ferries Discovery Coast Passage during the summer
months and regular scheduled flights throughout the year. It is remote,
but becoming more well known globally due to land use planning such as the
Central Coast Land and Resource Management Plan. |
