If your interests include catching 15 kilogram salmon, or sailing in the
archipelagos
of islands, exploring the untouched beaches of the
central
coast and the west coast of Vancouver Island, soaking in
hot
springs in their natural state,
kayaking
through deep fjord inlets, world class scuba diving, or taking a trip on the North West Passage,
then the North Island - Central Coast is the
place for you.
The North Island - Central Coast Forest District
Recreation Program manages 14 district recreation sites including 4 marine
anchorages, 32 recreation sites (managed cooperatively with major licensees),
56 kilometres of hiking trails, and 3 kilometres of interpretive trails. About 40,000 visitors per year use the Forest Service and
licensee supported
recreation facilities. These sites and the unique features within are managed to ensure that visitors and local
people will be enjoying northern Vancouver Island and the central coast for all of it's natural wonder.
