The Kamloops Timber Supply Review sets the Annual Allowable Cut (AAC) for the Timber Supply Area (TSA)- which includes the Kamloops District and part of Headwaters District. The Kamloops TSA covers 2.6 million hectares in the southwestern Interior. The current allowable annual cut for the Kamloops TSA is 4.0 million cubic metres, effective June 1, 2008.

The Kamloops District portion involves allocations for:

  • 5 Forest Licensees (Gilbert Smith, Interfor, Tolko, West Fraser and Weyerhaueser).
  • 1 Tree Farm Licence (Weyerhaeuser’s TFL #35).
  • 2 Pulpwood Agreements: PA16 Ainsworth, PA2 Weyerhaeuser.
  • 25 Non-Replaceable Forest Licenses, many of them held by First Nations.
  • 33 Woodlots for roughly 36,000 cubic metres.
  • Timber Sales Program: 230,000 cubic metres for roughly 30-40 timber sales each year.
  • 2 Community Forest Agreements near Barriere and Logan Lake.

BC Timber Sales :

The BCTS provides opportunities for individuals and firms to purchase Crown timber for their forest industry operations. In 2002 the Small Business Forest Enterprise Program was transformed into the BC Timber Sales. The Kamloops Timber Sales is allocated a total annual cut of about 230,000 cubic meters.

The Kamloops Business Area of BC Timber Sales, which geographically encompasses the Kamloops, Cascades, 100 Mile House and Headwaters (portion formerly Clearwater) forest districts. The administrative and management centre for the business area is the Timber Sales Office (TSO) located in Kamloops. There are also field teams in Merritt, Clearwater, 100 Mile House and Kamloops.
