Prairie Hills- Quartz Creek Area

The start of this popular snowmobiling area is located 40 kilometers west of Golden on the Trans Canada highway. If coming form Golden, take care turning left  to cross the highway. This area features a full range of expertise levels - from family to expert.

Places dedicated to one, or several types of winter recreation in the Golden area have been agreed to by members of the Backcountry Conflict Resolution Committee (BCRC) of Golden. The BCRC is composed of recreational and commercial, motorized and non-motorized winter enthusiasts, including representatives from the B.C. Government. For a number of years now, this group has committed itself to ending conflict within the backcountry and has zoned areas for certain uses. These agreements have been established by members of the public, for the public interest. Some areas may have motorized restrictions. Please check the maps at local snowmobile retailers, the Chamber of Commerce or with the B.C. Forest Service in Golden, at (250) 344-7500 if in doubt.

Caution:

Snowmobile trails in the Quartz Creek area are considered to have higher avalanche hazards associated with them. Please be careful. Check with the Canadian Avalanche Association for up to date reports.
