Mount Cartier Trail

This trail leading to the summit of Mount Cartier was used to transport supplies to a fire lookout cabin close to the summit. The trail was originally designed for horse drawn wagon and was approximately 26 kilometers in length. More recently, the trail has been re-routed to avoid crossing what is now private land, and is considerably shorter than the original. On a clear day with the sun at the right angle, local residents are treated to flashes of sunlight reflected off the metal roof of the cabin. The views are spectacular and well worth the effort. At higher elevations in the late summer there can be a shortage of water, so take along extra supplies.

The trailhead is located about 10 kilometers south of Revelstoke on Airport Way. There is a small sign marking the start of the trail.
