The Chilcotin Forest District takes great pride in hosting the BC Forest Service Trapshoot each May. This is the longest running event in the Forest Service. Each team is made up of five shooters but individuals are welcome – their teams will be organized at the pre-shoot practice. There are trophies awarded for the top team total, highest individual men’s and women’s score, as well as the lowest team and the lowest individual. There is a .22 shoot for the ladies and kids as well as an Annie Oakley event for the trapshooters. Free camping is available on site, and there is a concession running during the event. For more information, contact Grant Feldinger at 250-394-4727 or email at Grant.Feldinger@gov.bc.ca. Hope to see you there in 2009!
The Chilcotin Forest District’s 36th Annual Trap Shoot 2007
2007-06-04 By: Dan Hicks
The Chilcotin Forest District held its 36th Annual Chilcotin Forest District Trap Shoot at the Chilcotin Rod & Gun Club Range in Alexis Creek on Saturday, May 26th.
The contestants & onlookers were undeterred by frequent showers. 65 contestants signed onto 13 teams. They came from as far north as Burns Lake & as far south as 100 Mile House.
Further to the established shooting events, such as 22 caliber rifle shooting, and skeet and trap shotgun shooting, everyone was treated to a wild west styled “cops versus cowboys” shooting contest.
District Tenures Officer Grant Feldinger organized the event, assisted by Tenures Forester Brian Rosengren & many other district volunteers. Williams Lake resident Barry Jenkins served as Range Master. John LaBoyne of the Okanagan-Shuswap District designed the event T-shirt logo.
As the winners of the “cops versus cowboys” shooting contest, the cowboys donated their reward money to the Cariboo-Chilcotin based 139 Children’s Fundraising Society.
