Following are some highlights of maintenance and enhancement items included in SPAR releases during 2009.   

 SPAR - Release 05.04 - Aug. 2009

  • Seedlot Collection Area Capture Tool - this new spatial polygon mark-up tool provides a SPAR user with the ability to mark-up one or more polygons in SeedMap, representing the geographic area of the cone collection when  registering a natural stand seedlot in SPAR .  A new table - SEEDLOT_COLLECTION_GEOMETRY was createdin SPAR.  The collection area spatial data from this table is copied each night to the Land and Resource Data Warehouse (LRDW).
  • Seed Use Summary Reports - submission screen updated to enable multi-year report submissions.  When multiple sowing years are submitted, the results are reported by year, then as an average.  For the Seed Use by Genetic Source, a chart "Seedling Requests by Sowing Year and Species" is also created.
  • New Seed Use Summary Reports created - Seedlings Requested by: Species and SPU; by SPU and Orchard; by Orchard and SPU.  Each report also generates a chart.
  • New Seed Orchard Summary reports - Orchard Cone Crop Actuals (production by year, species, orchard, seedlot); Orchard Seed Production (total production for multiple years by species, orchard); Total Seed Production Ministry vs. Industry (for multiple years, species and ministry/industry).
  • Lot Search - ability to search for seedlots that have not completed registration ie. INC, SUB, PND, APP status.
  • Various small maintenance items.

SPAR - Release 05.03 - April 2009

  • Amendment to the Chief Forester's Standards for Seed Use implemented in SPAR - increase in upper elevation transfer limit for seedlots.
  • Seedling Request override requirement when a Class B seedlot is selected when a Class A seedlot is available has been changed to correspond with the Standards.  The prompt for the override will occur when a seedlot with Genetic Worth of G+05 or greater is available.
  • Seedling Requests for vegetative lots - both seedlots and vegetative lots are now displayed on the Lot Selection screen, regardless of stocktype selected.  The stocktype is updated after the lot selection.
  • Seedling Request - "Comment" field renamed "Client Reference".
  • Orchard Report - columns added and revised.
  •  Various small maintenance items.

SPAR - Release 05.02 - Feb. 2009

  • New Report to compare Seedlings Requested from SPAR with Seedlings Lifted (from NSA for Ministry funded seedlings) and Seedlings Planted (from RESULTS).
  • New Report to compare the stored SPZ and BGC of a Class B seedlot with the SPZ and BGC information determined spatially for the seedlot's mean collection latitude and longitude coordinates.
  • Seed Use Report submission screens merged and mandatory parameters changed to allow Sowing Year OR Planting Year to be entered.
  • Seedlot Registration - Copy function added to allow Tree Seed Centre to register returned seed more efficiently.
  • Seedlot Registration - Orchard ID field moved to page one.
  • BC Sunrise logo added to all the SPAR reports.
  • SPAR menu changed to be dynamic based on user authority level.

SPAR - Release 05.01 - Oct. 2008

  • Integration of the new BGC tables and geometry throughout SPAR.
  • Updates to Seedling Request to incorporate FTA changes from Timber Mark table to Hauling Authority table.
  • Re-design of Tree Seed Centre Contacts table to allow 5 Client Types for each Client Contact.
  • Re-design of Orchard table, to store Seed Planning Unit (SPU) data for each orchard.
  • Re-design of SPAR logon security to use either Client Number or Org Unit, but not both.
  • Several minor bug fixes and screen changes.
