The British Columbia Ministry of Forests is now the custodian of the STIM
models originally developed by the Canadian Forest Service (Pacific Forestry
Centre, Victoria) with funding from the Canada-British Columbia Partnership
Agreement on Forest Resource Development (FRDA II). The Ministry
agreed to assume custodianship for the models when the Canadian Forest
Service eliminated its Growth and Yield Program in 1996. The Ministry
provides resources for distribution services only. User support services
and staff familiarity with the models are minimal but we will answer your
questions to the extent that we are able. STIM version 3.0 for western
hemlock was released on May, 1996, and STIM version 3.0 for trembling
aspen was released on July, 1996.
