Effects of Frequency and Intensity of Defoliation on Forage Production and Quality of Bluebunch Wheatgrass and Rough Fescue

Contents Menu Wildlife exclosure

This study focused on bluebunch wheatgrass and rough fescue because both species frequently occur in elk and cattle diets when these plants are available. The objectives of the project were to (1) determine the effects of intensity of defoliation on forage production, forage quality, and plant vigour, and (2) determine the effects of frequency and season of defoliation on forage production, forage quality and plant vigour.
