Ecology and Distribution of Sulphur Cinquefoil In British Columbia

Contents Menu Sulphur cinquefoil Sulphur cinquefoil (Potentilla recta L.) is an introduced plant which is spreading and is believed to displace native plant species in undisturbed habitats.

Despite concern about this weed, little information is available about its impacts, and no information specific to BC is available.

Preliminary reports indicate this weed has a fairly wide ecological adaptation, and its populations may be expanding.

Field sampling

The objectives of this experimental project are (1) to determine the distribution of sulphur cinquefoil in BC on a broad geographic basis; and. (2) to determine the relationship of sulphur cinquefoil with ecological zones, plant community structure, and biophysical attributes
