Softwood Lumber Products Export Charge Act, 2006

Bill C-24 which implements the Softwood Lumber Agreement, was introduced in Parliament on September 20, 2006 (details).
On December 14, 2006 the Honourable David Emerson, Minister of International Trade, and the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry, announced that Bill C-24 received Royal Assent (News Release).

On September 11, 2006, British Columbia Minister of Forests and Range Coleman notified federal Minister of International Trade Emerson that British Columbia has elected the export tax option (Option A) under the agreement since this option best meets British Columbia's interests and leads to higher provincial output and employment than the export quota option.
